On Wednesday the 7th August 2024, the students from St. Christopher’s Catholic Primary School Holsworthy, participated in an eventful and fun-filled mini Olympics Day!
In the spirit of the Olympic games in Paris this year, St. Christopher’s wanted to join in on the excitement and host their very own Olympics Day, where students had the opportunity to explore different cultures and sports all while promoting sportsmanship and teamwork.
The event kicked off in Olympic tradition, where 28 countries participated in the Opening Ceremony and the National Anthem was sung before jumping into the days’ activities. The countries took part in various rotational sporting events, which were inspired by actual Olympic sports including hockey, lacrosse, horse riding and gymnastics. All participating students did an exceptional job, showcasing their cooperation, enthusiasm and patriotism for their country!
Students also had the opportunity to learn about current Australian athletes’ Olympic journey and personal growth. Learning about these amazing athletes motivated our students about aiming high and working hard to achieve your goals through sport.
Upon conclusion of the games, a traditional closing ceremony was held to mark the official end of the day which included sportsmanship medal ceremony and speeches from the officials.
The St. Christopher’s mini Olympic Day was a huge success and was a unique opportunity for our students to learn all about the Olympic values of excellence, friendship and respect.
Congratulations to all who made the day possible and to all our students who had a wonderful time participating in the day’s events.
