We value positive relationships with parents and carers to help develop better social and emotional skills in children. We know that when children are engaged with their learning, they attend school more regularly, leading to better long term outcomes.
For parenting and counselling services, visit the Family Support page, and for direction and clarity on regulations, processes and procedures at our school, read the Sydney Catholic School policies.
Communication with parents
All communication is made via Compass. Parents are encouraged to check Compass regularly to keep up to date with information and photos from the latest school events, upcoming dates and weekly newsletters.
Grade information sessions
Every year in Term 1, parents are invited to attend an information session for their child’s grade.
Parent/Teacher meetings
There are two formal interview periods throughout the year; Meet and Greet interviews in Term 1 and interviews in Term 2. Parents are encouraged to speak to their child’s teacher on other occasions to discuss their child’s progress.
Parent volunteer training
Several training sessions are held each year in Term 1 for all parents that would like to volunteer as a parent helper. Opportunities include volunteering in the classroom, on excursions or activities such as the athletics or swimming carnivals.
Parent representatives
Volunteer to be a parent representative for your child’s grade. A parent representative will have responsibilities such as acting as a parent voice and organising fundraising initiatives.
Parent learning walks
Throughout the year, parents have the opportunity to visit classrooms across the school to observe teaching and learning.
Parent forum
Each term, our school organises a parent forum on a particular topic of interest such as student wellbeing, Mathematics or school improvement goals. Different topics are addressed each year and are chosen to meet the interests and needs of the community.
Technology
Students at St Christopher’s are able to use a wide range of school owned devices including Chromebooks, iPads and Macbooks. From Years 3-6, students participate in the Bring Your Own Designated Device Program (BYODD). More information on this can be found on our BYODD site.
